PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augustus Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Augustus Cole told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young throws a series of punches but Cole moves out of range.
Cole swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Young looks to land a right hand but Cole moved out of range.
Cole misses with a hook.
Cole takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Cole stuffs the takedown.

Young closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cole did well to prevent Young getting side control.
Young thows a huge punch but Cole dodges it nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cole can do anything to dispel that myth.
Young tries to pass to full mount but Cole defends it.

Young is working for a kimura but Cole is defending it quite comfortably.

Cole really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Young. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cole wants to sweep here but Young controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Young uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cole.

Young doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Cole cracks Young with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cole lunges at Young with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Young's hand.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cole throws a hook but Young avoids it easily.
Cole dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Young shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cole as he avoids it easily.
Cole fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cole bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Young's head.

Cole is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Young.
Jason Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cole stuns Young with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cole rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Young moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Young counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cole won't be happy with that.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cole tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Young wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Young is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cole sees it coming and defends easily.
Cole is trying to control but can't.
Cole is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Young throws an overhand right that lands on Cole's shoulder, as Cole tries to avoid the shot.
Cole misses with a wild body shot.
Cole misses with an uppercut.
Cole with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Young to score with a decent uppercut.

Young is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Jeez, Jason Young's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Augustus Cole showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Cole lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
