PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vick Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dillon Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Palmer has chosen Bodies as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Dillon Palmer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Palmer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Armstrong as he avoids it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Palmer takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Palmer with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Armstrong to score with a decent uppercut.

Armstrong tries to bum rush Palmer with a series of wild strikes but Palmer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Armstrong throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Armstrong throws a front kick that sends Palmer stumbling back into the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Armstrong lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Armstrong throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Palmer avoids the head kick by Armstrong.

Armstrong thows a body shot but no joy.

Palmer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Armstrong's waist but Armstrong gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Palmer off to one side.

Armstrong fakes the leg kick and cracks Palmer in the body.
Palmer tries a head kick but it misses.
Armstrong throws a series of punches but Palmer avoids them all with ease.
No joy there for Armstrong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Horrible takedown by Palmer or perhaps it was just good defense by Armstrong which made him look bad.

Armstrong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Armstrong misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Palmer blocks the body kick.
Palmer walks forward, straight into a front kick from Armstrong.

Palmer is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Armstrong.


It looks like Dillon Palmer has been cut.
Armstrong lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Armstrong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Palmer circles away quickly and effectively.
Armstrong fakes the leg kick and cracks Palmer in the body.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Palmer crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Armstrong - the referee stops the clock and Palmer gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Armstrong. Palmer manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Armstrong tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Palmer was well out of range. Poor timing from Armstrong.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Palmer tries to pull guard but Armstrong holds him up against the cage and eventually Palmer drops back down to his feet.
Vick Armstrong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dillon Palmer.

Armstrong using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Palmer has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Armstrong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palmer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Palmer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Armstrong manages to get himself to full guard.

Armstrong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Armstrong, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
