PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between pure bjj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Bingham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, pure bjj!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethan Bingham!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Bingham, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
bjj tries for a takedown but Bingham sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Bingham drives through and clinches with bjj against the cage.
Bingham connects with a nasty looking knee right to bjj's face.

Bingham breaks the clinch.
Bingham tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
bjj shoots in looking for a takedown. Bingham tries to sprawl out of it but bjj keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bingham manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bingham closes the distance and pushes bjj back into the cage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

bjj is pressing down on Bingham's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bingham is holding on for now.
bjj perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bingham is not content to let bjj control the position.

bjj thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

bjj is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bingham has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

bjj tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no bjj has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bingham is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

bjj is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bingham knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bingham pushes bjj away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, bjj gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Bingham is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but bjj has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Bingham is sitting in close to bjj's body. bjj has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Bingham is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Bingham is tapping! That was a very nice submission by bjj.
