Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Ferrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Fernandez's choice of entrance music: Chapterhouse - Pearl. David Ferrell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ferrell throws a looping overhand right but Fernandez ducks down to avoid it.
Ferrell defending well as Fernandez loads up on a big left hand.
Fernandez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ferrell moves away.
Ferrell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fernandez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Fernandez lands a slapping body shot.
Ferrell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Fernandez throws an overhand right that lands on Ferrell's shoulder, as Ferrell tries to avoid the shot.

Ferrell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fernandez's waist but Fernandez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ferrell off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Ferrell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ferrell is breathing heavily.
Oooh a lovely combination from Fernandez sends Ferrell down but not out. Fernandez dives into side control looking to finish.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ferrell is looking to regain half guard here but Fernandez keeps moving and retains side control.

Fernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferrell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ferrell seems a little lost for a moment, as Fernandez dominates the positioning.
You can see the frustration on Ferrell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Fernandez has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Fernandez cracks Ferrell with an uppercut from hell and Ferrell crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Fernandez's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Fernandez won't allow Ferrell to get back to his feet.
Fernandez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fernandez tries to free his leg and advance position but Ferrell is retaining full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jab, jab by Fernandez - just one landing.
Fernandez cracks Ferrell with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Fernandez has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Ferrell to stand back up!
Ferrell shoots for a double leg takedown but Fernandez sprawls well. He's pushed Ferrell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A shot to the body from Ferrell misses
and Fernandez counters with a big right hand! Oh Ferrell is in trouble here! Fernandez follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
