PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Mc Arthur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Can Tun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Douglas Mc Arthur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Can Tun!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tun wants to clinch.
Mc Arthur ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Tun drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Tun thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mc Arthur tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mc Arthur tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Tun easily slips into full mount!
Mc Arthur is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mc Arthur is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tun tries to control but Mc Arthur wriggling away.
Tun looking to control and managing it successfully.
Mc Arthur is working to get back to half guard.
Tun tries to control but Mc Arthur wriggling away.
Tun is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mc Arthur is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Tun lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Tun is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mc Arthur has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Tun can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mc Arthur is looking to escape.
Mc Arthur taking shots to the head.
Mc Arthur tries to hold on but Tun postures up.

Tun dominating with strikes here.
Tun lands a nice shot to the head.
Tun controlling his opponent.
Tun tries to control but Mc Arthur wriggling away.

Tun looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mc Arthur is trying desperately to improve position.
Mc Arthur is working hard here to advance position.
Mc Arthur is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mc Arthur has given up his back here.
Mc Arthur covering up well and avoiding damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mc Arthur manages to reverse the position and now he's in Tun's guard. Nice work there by Mc Arthur.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Can Tun dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mc Arthur shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Tun counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Tun landing some decent shots from guard.
Mc Arthur keeping moving, preventing Tun from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mc Arthur is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tun defends well.
Tun has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mc Arthur is proving hard to escape from.
Tun forces his way into half guard.

Tun passes to full mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tun looking to control but Mc Arthur is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mc Arthur looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Mc Arthur tries to roll but Tun sticks to his back.
Tun lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Mc Arthur.
Tun is trying to stick to Mc Arthur's back but Mc Arthur is turning into Tun. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Tun's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mc Arthur.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mc Arthur lands a couple of elbows.

Mc Arthur postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tun is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mc Arthur, into his guard.

Mc Arthur is looking for a triangle but Tun pushes his legs off easily.
Tun won't allow Mc Arthur to sweep him here.

Mc Arthur has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tun can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mc Arthur is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mc Arthur trying to mount his opponent but Tun defends it.

Mc Arthur is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tun is just riding it out for now. Mc Arthur eventually gives up the hold.
Mc Arthur thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tun's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tun gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mc Arthur is one step ahead there.
Mc Arthur is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Can Tun showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Mc Arthur tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tun sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mc Arthur somewhat.
Mc Arthur misses with a series of wild punches.
Tun tries to clinch but Mc Arthur moves out of range.
Tun tries to clinch but Mc Arthur is having none of it.

and Mc Arthur counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mc Arthur wants to control from the top but Tun keeps moving.
Tun striking off his back but it's not causing Mc Arthur any problems.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mc Arthur postures up.
Mc Arthur lands a couple of digs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tun keeping full guard, as Mc Arthur tries to pass.
Mc Arthur prevents Tun from getting back to his feet.
Mc Arthur pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tun is keeping the position for now.

Can Tun has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tun throws a leg kick but Mc Arthur sees it coming and moves out of range.

Mc Arthur clinches.
Knees in the clinch landing for Tun.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mc Arthur tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tun smiles and moves away.
Mc Arthur clinches but Tun breaks the clinch

and Tun counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Mc Arthur is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mc Arthur is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Tun pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mc Arthur is keeping the position for now.

Tun got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mc Arthur has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tun has managed to get both his arms back between Mc Arthur's legs - danger averted.

Mc Arthur wants to improve his position but instead Tun has moved into half guard.
Tun lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mc Arthur is trying to get back to full guard.
Tun trying to pass the guard but Mc Arthur defending well.
Mc Arthur moves into full guard.
Mc Arthur trying to keep a closed guard but Tun is proving a slippery customer.
Douglas Mc Arthur has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Douglas Mc Arthur.
I think Tun has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
