PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Glen Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Veneracion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Veneracion is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by faint. The key to victory for Glen Burnett has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karl Veneracion!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veneracion doesn't manage to clinch there - Burnett circles away.
Veneracion shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Veneracion tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Burnett gets a clinch.
Burnett lands a body shot in the clinch.

Burnett breaks from the clinch.

Veneracion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Burnett sprawls well initially but Veneracion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Veneracion is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Burnett sees it coming and defends easily.

Veneracion thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Veneracion throwing shots but Burnett is blocking nicely.

Veneracion is trying to work for a kimura but Burnett is defending well.
Veneracion looks gassed!
Burnett is looking to escape.
Veneracion has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Veneracion wants to control but Burnett is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Veneracion throws a series of punches but Burnett avoids them all with ease.
Burnett slaps away a takedown attempt from Veneracion, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Burnett stalks Veneracion and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Veneracion's face. Veneracion staggers backwards, shaken.
Burnett shoots in and drives through. Veneracion sprawls well.
Veneracion misses with a head kick.
Burnett dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Veneracion. That did some damage!
Burnett fails with the takedown
letting Veneracion counter with a right hand.

Burnett scores with a takedown into Veneracion's guard.
Burnett stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Veneracion swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Veneracion throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Veneracion looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Burnett passes into side control.
Burnett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Veneracion on the ground.

Veneracion is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Veneracion is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Veneracion gets full guard.

Burnett drops back looking for a leg! Veneracion is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Veneracion manages to kick Burnett off! Burnett jumps back into Veneracion's guard.
Veneracion wants to sweep but no luck.

Veneracion has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Burnett should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Veneracion has tightened it up now! Burnett should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
