Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grey Te Whena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Te Whena has chosen Garden Knome - Barbarella as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Grey Te Whena!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane fails to land with a series of punches.
Te Whena throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kane swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kane will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Te Whena drives through and clinches with Kane against the cage.
Kane tries to score a body lock takedown but Te Whena shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Te Whena blocks an uppercut.
Kane misses with the head strike.

Te Whena gets control of Kane's arms and successfully pulls guard. Te Whena will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Te Whena pushes Kane off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Te Whena is looking to score with low kicks.
Kane misses with a double jab.
Kane tries to clinch but Te Whena moves away

and Te Whena counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kane won't be happy with that.
Kane trying to remain calm as Te Whena controls from the top position.

Te Whena gets to mount! Kane was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Te Whena controlling from the full mount.
I looks like Te Whena might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kane is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Te Whena looking to control and managing it successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Grey Te Whena just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kane falls off balance throwing a combination

and Te Whena counters with a shoot takedown. Kane fights it but they end up in guard.

Kane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Te Whena loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Te Whena is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Te Whena stands up and waves to Kane to follow him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Te Whena thuds a left hand into Kane's body.
Andy Kane has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Te Whena looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Kane fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kane throws a nice looking combination but Te Whena bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kane throws a right and a left that both miss.
No joy there for Te Whena, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Te Whena showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kane.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kane throws a series of punches but Te Whena avoids them all with ease.
Te Whena lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kane circles away quickly and effectively.
Te Whena wants to slow Kane down by chopping away at his legs.

Te Whena closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kane looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Te Whena is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kane!
Kane tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Te Whena tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Te Whena has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Te Whena's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kane sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kane actively working from the bottom here.
Still in half guard, Te Whena seems content to control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Grey Te Whena just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Te Whena throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kane.
Kane throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kane wants to clinch

and Te Whena counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kane's guard now.
Te Whena passes into half guard.
Te Whena content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Kane pushes Te Whena off but Te Whena dives into side control.
Kane is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Te Whena staying calm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grey Te Whena showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Te Whena misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Te Whena throws a right and a left that Kane avoids nicely.
Kane slips a jab and a cross from Te Whena.
Kane misses with a few strikes there.
Te Whena turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A combination from Kane does no damage.

Te Whena rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kane moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Te Whena shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Te Whena decides to stand and escape the position.
Te Whena fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Te Whena dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kane. That did some damage!

Te Whena controlling the action here.

Te Whena stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Kane lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Te Whena avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kane throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Te Whena has closed the distance and engaged Kane in a clinch.

Te Whena pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kane fails to land with a series of punches.
Kane misses with a combination

and Te Whena counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Te Whena.

Te Whena slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Te Whena stands up and waves to Kane to follow him.
Kane fails to land with a series of punches.
Te Whena throws a sloppy head kick and Kane moves out of range easily.
Kane misses with a two punch combination.
Te Whena throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Te Whena lands a head kick. Kane smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

And that's the end of the fight!
Grey Te Whena comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Te Whena has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
