PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Rousseau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Another one bites the dust. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Rousseau!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones wants to clinch up but Rousseau keeps it at a distance.
Marcus Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Rousseau which made him look bad.
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Rousseau sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Rousseau wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.

Rousseau sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Rousseau shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Jones tries to hold on but Rousseau pushes him away.

Jones tries to buck Rousseau off but Rousseau is having none of it.

Rousseau remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
