PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erin Melcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these fighters had to take extra time to make weight as they missed the initial 155lb limit. Erin Melcher came in at 156.1 and Mark Palmer came in at 157.1 but after the extra two hours, both guys managed to get within the one pound allowance. No doubt it will have affected them physically though, so let's see if that has an impact on the fight. Mark Palmer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Palmer is nestled in close to Melcher, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Melcher is pressed up against the cage. Palmer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Melcher down to the mat. Melcher avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

so Palmer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Palmer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Palmer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Melcher has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Palmer has managed to get both his arms back between Melcher's legs - danger averted.
Melcher seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

I would just about give that final round to Mark Palmer.
