Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alex McAndrew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lidel Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McAndrew kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is New Moon Rising by Wolf Mother. Lidel Castro will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex McAndrew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lidel Castro!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McAndrew fails with the takedown.
McAndrew shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Castro defends it nicely.
Castro digs a good hook to McAndrew's body.
A jab lands there for Castro.
Castro lands with a right hand.

McAndrew scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Castro struggling a bit here.
McAndrew working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Sloppy strikes there by McAndrew.
Castro managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by McAndrew.
The strikes coming from McAndrew are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McAndrew with the ground and pound but Castro regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McAndrew sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Castro defending well though.
McAndrew is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The crowd cheers as Castro lands an impressive looking overhand right. McAndrew doesn't seem phased though.
Castro leaves McAndrew with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex McAndrew. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McAndrew slips a jab and a cross from Castro.
Castro scores with a crisp jab that stopped McAndrew in his tracks.
The fight stays on the outside here - McAndrew looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nice defenses there by McAndrew.

Castro moves into the clinch successfully.
McAndrew is trying to drag Castro to the mat but Castro just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
McAndrew keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Castro's efforts to push away.
Castro is pressed up against the cage. McAndrew has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Castro down to the mat. Castro avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Castro lands with a shot to the body.
Alex McAndrew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McAndrew is breathing heavily.

McAndrew clinches with his opponent.
McAndrew is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Castro wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

McAndrew manages to pull guard.

McAndrew throws his legs up looking for a submission but Castro uses it to pass to side control.
McAndrew is looking to reverse the position.

Castro decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Castro takes the fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McAndrew tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Castro's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Castro cracks McAndrew with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

McAndrew closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Castro did well to prevent McAndrew getting side control.

Castro makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Castro lands a right hook to the body.
A cross from Castro lands.
Castro with a nice cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A left lands for Castro.
Castro scores with a jab.
Castro scores with the left hand. McAndrew knows he should have avoided that one.
Castro cracks McAndrew with a right hand to the side of the head.


McAndrew is rocked!
Castro connects with a good right hand that stumbles McAndrew. McAndrew circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Oh McAndrew is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Castro throws a pinpoint strike between McAndrew's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends McAndrew crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Castro scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lidel Castro!
