Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bam Bam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ben Steele!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Steele somewhat.
Steele misses with a looping right.
Bam keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Steele is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bam sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Bam Bam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Steele.
Bam gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Steele to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Steele wants to pass the guard but Bam is keeping the position.

Steele not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Steele accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bam doesn't succeed with the takedown
so Steele counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Steele working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Bam doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Steele is in close to Bam's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Steele with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bam is looking for a triangle but Steele pushes his legs off easily.
Bam is breathing heavily.
Steele lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Steele slips nicely into half guard.
Bam works his way to full guard. Good work.
Bam is pulling down on Steele's head. It's preventing any offense from Steele, at least for the moment.
Steele postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Steele wants to control from the top but Bam keeps moving.

Bam had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Steele is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bam Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Steele's back instead.
Steele is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Steele tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Steele has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bam avoids the attempt from Steele to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bam fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
BOOM! Bam connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bam misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Bam thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Steele is looking to improve his position but Bam isn't that keen on the idea.
Bam lands a heavy elbow.
Bam lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Bam avoids the attempt from Steele to control.
Steele sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bam throwing shots but Steele is blocking nicely.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bam lands a nice short elbow.
Steele trying to hold on to Bam's head to control him but Bam postures up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Steele is doing well to control the position and prevent Bam from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Steele dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Steele doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bam counters with a nice double leg into side control. Steele won't be happy with that.

Bam is putting a hurting on Steele here, landing some big shots from side control.

Bam tries to score with some ground and pound. Steele controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Steele takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Bam is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steele is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bam is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Steele knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Steele is trying to control Bam's posture but Bam avoids it.
Steele sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Bam Bam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Steele pushes Bam off looking to stand but Bam dives back in and keeps control.
Steele wants to get back to full guard.
Bam wants to take a breather but Steele is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bam lands with a punch from half guard.
Steele tries to roll over but Bam keeps him under control.
Steele looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bam takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Bam lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bam connects with a nice short shot to Steele's temple.

Bam seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Steele is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
