The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kongo misses with a head kick.

Hanson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kongo did well to prevent Hanson getting side control.

Kongo wants to improve his position but Hanson is controlling well.
Hanson stops Kongo from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hanson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Kongo is trying to stand back up but Hanson is controlling him

Hanson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kongo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hanson tries to clinch but Kongo is having none of it.

Hanson shoots for a double leg takedown but Kongo sprawls well. He's pushed Hanson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hanson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jeff Hanson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kongo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hanson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hanson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Kongo tries to escape but Hanson is in control.
Hanson is looking to take a break and control but Kongo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kongo is trying to buck Hanson off.
Kongo is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Hanson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kongo some visible discomfort.
A lull in the action here.
Kongo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hanson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hanson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kongo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hanson has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Hanson looking to isolate an arm here. Kongo doesn't see it coming and as Hanson extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Hanson!
