PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Saikosis Killzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Saikosis Killzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Pan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Killzie using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Killzie tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Killzie tries to break the clinch but Pan is controlling the position.
Killzie wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pan has him pressed against the ropes.
Killzie landing knees to the head.
Pan tries to land knees in the clinch but Killzie avoids the damage to the body.
Pan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Pan jumps guard and drags Killzie to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Killzie postures up in Pan's guard and throws a big left but Pan blocks it.
Killzie has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Killzie is looking to stand up but Pan won't let him.
Pan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Killzie is one step ahead there.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Pan throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Pan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Killzie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pan is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Killzie stuffs the takedown attempt from Pan. Pan gets slowly back to his feet.
Pan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Killzie's waist but Killzie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pan off to one side.

Pan darts in and clinches Killzie up against the ropes.
Killzie throws an elbow but it misses.
Killzie is trying to break the clinch but Pan has him pressed against the ropes.
Pan has Killzie pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Killzie manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Saikosis Killzie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Pan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pan looking to stall.
Killzie jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pan walks away with a smile on his face. Killzie gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Killzie doesn't manage to clinch there - Pan circles away.
Killzie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pan counters with a single leg into guard. Killzie didn't expect that.
Pan stops Killzie from standing up.
Pan wants to control from the top but Killzie keeps moving.
Pan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Killzie kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Killzie, up you get!
Pan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Killzie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Killzie is breathing heavily.
Killzie tries to clinch up.

Pan drives through and clinches with Killzie against the ropes.

Pan decides to pull guard.
Pan working a defensive guard here.
Killzie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pan on the ground.
Pan looking for a sweep. Not yet Pan, not yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Killzie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Killzie has managed to get both his arms back between Pan's legs - danger averted.
Killzie trying to control the position from guard on top but Pan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Killzie sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Pan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Killzie off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Pan dominated that round.
That's time! Killzie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Killzie but Killzie pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Saikosis Killzie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Pan leaves Killzie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Killzie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pan pinned against the cage. Pan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Killzie throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Pan gets a clinch.
Killzie tries to land a knee to the head but Pan blocks with his arms.

Killzie keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pan's efforts to push away.
Killzie is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pan is defending well for now.

Pan jumps guard.
Pan will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Pan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pan is breathing heavily.
Pan doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Killzie wants to control but Pan is having none of it.
Killzie really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Pan tries to control but Killzie wriggling away.

Pan has control of Killzie's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Killzie regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Killzie is trying desperately to improve position.
Killzie is working hard here to advance position.
Pan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Killzie is squirming around, avoiding Pan's attempts to control the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Killzie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Pan.

Pan looking to control but Killzie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Peter Pan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!



Pan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Killzie's head.
Pan wants to take a breather but Killzie is having none of it.
Killzie wants to get back to full guard.
Pan wants to pass to mount but Killzie is defending the position.
Pan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Pan trying to pass the guard but Killzie defending well.
Pan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Killzie trying to control but Pan postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Killzie is fending him off so far but Pan persists. Nope, Killzie circles away and we're back to standing.
Pan ducks under a wild hook from Killzie.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Killzie looks to score with a jab to the body but Pan is just out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Killzie.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Killzie fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pan dives in and grabs Killzie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Killzie pushes down on Pan's head and hops out.
Killzie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Pan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Pan has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Killzie clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Killzie wants to escape the position.

Pan working for a choke but Killzie is defending well.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Pan's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Saikosis Killzie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pan misses with punches from the back.
A lull in the action here.
Killzie trying to control the position but Pan manages to sink in the hooks.
Peter Pan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pan controlling the position well here. Killzie rolled but Pan kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Peter Pan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Pan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
