The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assunicao keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lotapewp.

Lotapewp fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Assunicao, pushing him back against the cage.
Assunicao has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lotapewp is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Lotapewp pushes Assunicao away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Assunicao gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silvano Assunicao has got the better of the ground game so far.

Assunicao is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lotapewp can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
