PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Dunlop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kid has chosen Go Go Power Rangers as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dunlop avoids it really well and circles away.
Kid tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dunlop swivels and escapes.
Kid keeps the fight on the outside.
Kid blocks a head kick by Dunlop.
Kid clinches but Dunlop breaks the clinch

and Dunlop counters with a single leg into guard. Kid didn't expect that.
Kid not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kid has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dunlop can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kid has momentary wrist control but Dunlop slips an elbow through the middle.

Dunlop stands up from Kid's guard - Dunlop perhaps looking for a knockout.
Kid tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Dunlop throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kid.

and Kid makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Dunlop really felt that one!

Dunlop postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kid avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kid is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Dunlop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kid swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dunlop decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Dunlop has Kid pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dunlop pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kid tumbling to the mat - Dunlop dives into Kid's guard.
Dunlop knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kid on the ground.
Dunlop postures up in Kid's guard and throws a big left but Kid blocks it.
Dunlop is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dunlop wants to control from the top but Kid keeps moving.
Kid manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dunlop manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kid won't allow Dunlop to sweep him here.

Dunlop has an active guard here but Kid has managed to pass into half guard.
Kid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dunlop does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kid is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dunlop wants to get back to his feet.

A frustrated look appears on Dunlop's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Dunlop really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dunlop tries to clinch up but Kid circles away and keeps his distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dunlop working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Dunlop postures up and lands a big shot to Kid's brow.
Kid bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dunlop's guard.

Kid drops back looking for a leg! Dunlop is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dunlop manages to kick Kid off! Kid jumps back into Dunlop's guard.
Kid slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kid has an Americana. Dunlop didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Kid is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Kid hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
