Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Launchpad McQuack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smarky Malarkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malarkey has chosen LL Cool J -- Momma said knock you out. as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Launchpad McQuack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Smarky Malarkey!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQuack swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Malarkey avoids the body shot from McQuack.
McQuack throws out a loose jab but Malarkey uses good head movement to avoid it.
McQuack throws a hook but Malarkey blocks it.

McQuack gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Malarkey's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Malarkey won't allow McQuack to sweep him here.
McQuack knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Malarkey on the ground.
McQuack is wriggling around but Malarkey manages to pass to half guard.
Malarkey looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McQuack with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Malarkey wants to free his trapped foot but McQuack is holding on for dear life with his legs.

McQuack is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Malarkey wants to lay and pray for a moment but McQuack keeps working.
McQuack has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Malarkey is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Malarkey shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McQuack manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Smarky Malarkey dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McQuack throws a body punch but Malarkey moves out of range.

Malarkey closes the distance and clinches.
McQuack lands a shoulder strike.
With the fighters up against the ropes, McQuack throws an elbow but misses.
Malarkey jumps guard but McQuack stands there with Malarkey around his waist. Malarkey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Malarkey swings wildly with an uppercut but McQuack uses good head movement to avoid it.
Malarkey has had enough of the clinch but McQuack keeps him there for the moment.

McQuack breaks from the clinch.
McQuack misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Malarkey.
A jab lands there for Malarkey.
McQuack misses the jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Malarkey uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McQuack.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Malarkey connects with a nice short shot to McQuack's temple.

McQuack sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
McQuack is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Malarkey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Malarkey's back!

Smarky Malarkey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
