Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Layman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson wants to clinch.

Layman tries to clinch but Stevenson moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Layman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Stevenson is looking to get to half guard.
The referee warns Stevenson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Layman is working for a guillotine from mount but Stevenson frees his head quite easily.

Layman closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Stevenson did well to prevent Layman getting side control.

Layman is pressing down on Stevenson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stevenson is holding on for now.
Stevenson tries to get to full guard but Layman has control of the leg.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Stevenson throws a good cross that connects.

Layman slips under a jab.
Stevenson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Stevenson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Stevenson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Layman's hands.
Stevenson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Layman fails with the takedown

and Stevenson counters with a big uppercut that knocks Layman off his feet! Stevenson dives into side control looking to finish!

It looks like Larry Layman has been cut.

Stevenson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Layman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Stevenson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Layman to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stevenson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Layman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Stevenson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Stevenson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Layman.
Layman shoots for a double leg takedown but Stevenson sprawls well. He's pushed Layman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Joe Stevenson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Larry Layman.
Stevenson tries to clinch but Layman moves out of range.
Layman takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Stevenson cracks Layman with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Stevenson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Layman to stand back up!

Stevenson shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Layman takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Stevenson sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Layman bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
