PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Kendall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kendall comes to the cage accompanied by Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lance Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong shoots in but no luck this time.
Armstrong fails with a takedown attempt.
Armstrong fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kurt Kendall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Armstrong.
Kendall lands a nice looking body kick.
Armstrong throws a one two combo.
Kendall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Armstrong was well out of range. Poor timing from Kendall.

Kendall shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kendall showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kendall thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Armstrong's head.
Armstrong is trying to stand.
Kendall seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Armstrong does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kendall works his way into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kendall tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Armstrong regains half guard there - taking advantage of Kendall's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Armstrong pushes Kendall off and gets back to his feet.

Kendall shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Armstrong manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kendall is stalling in the full guard.

Armstrong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kendall defends well.
Kendall knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Armstrong on the ground.
Armstrong looks gassed!
Kendall wants to pass the guard but Armstrong is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kendall forces his way into half guard.
Kendall works his foot free and advances to mount.
Kendall controlling from mount.
Armstrong is in a horrible position here. Kendall smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Kendall controlling the pace for now.
Kendall tries to control but Armstrong wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Armstrong is trying desperately to improve position.
Kendall looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Kendall controlling from the full mount.
Kendall scoring with strikes but Armstrong is staying in there.
Kendall controlling the pace for now.
Kendall trying to control but Armstrong is having none of it.

Armstrong tries to lock up and control but Kendall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kurt Kendall just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Kendall drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kendall trying to control but Armstrong is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kendall is really struggling to control Armstrong but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Armstrong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurt Kendall dominated that round.
That's time! Kendall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Armstrong has his takedown stuffed

and Kendall counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kendall is stalling here. Armstrong is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kendall seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Armstrong has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Kendall throws Armstrong to one side and escapes!

Kendall closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kendall jumps into guard, dragging Armstrong to the mat.
Armstrong prevents Kendall from getting back to his feet.

Kendall tries to strike from the bottom.

Kendall is looking to sinch up a triangle. Armstrong throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Kendall's body to avoid the submission. Kendall has instead reached around Armstrong's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Kendall arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Kurt Kendall!
Kurt Kendall is the new middleweight champion!
