PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Gauthier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Lewis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lewis wants to clinch up but Gauthier keeps it at a distance.

Lewis has gone for a leg lock! Gauthier slips out almost immediately though and dives into Lewis's guard.
Lewis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lewis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lewis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gauthier manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lewis has Gauthier in his guard.

Lewis fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gauthier sprawls well initially but Lewis persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

and Lewis moves into the clinch.

Lewis pushes a forearm under Gauthier's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Gauthier is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
