The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage tries to work over Thompson's front leg with a kick but Thompson checks it.
Cage throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Thompson throws a head kick that misses.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Thompson.
Joe Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thompson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cage, right into the meat.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Thompson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cage has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cage and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Cage tries to land a front kick but Thompson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Thompson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Thompson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cage.

and Cage counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cage connects with a good right hand that stumbles Thompson. Thompson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Thompson throws a solid leg kick but Cage takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Thompson.
Thompson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Thompson throws a right and a left that Cage avoids nicely.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Thompson checks a leg kick.

The crowd cheers as Cage lands an impressive looking overhand right. Thompson doesn't seem phased though.
