PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deamon Beat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knight comes to the cage accompanied by We Will Rock You. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Deamon Beat!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beat defending well as Knight loads up on a big left hand.
Jack Knight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Beat feints and as Knight raises his hands in defense, Beat changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Beat missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Beat stops Knight from standing up.
Knight keeping moving, preventing Beat from controlling successfully.
Beat passes Knight's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Beat is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Knight sees it coming and defends easily.
Beat is looking to advance position but Knight won't allow it.
Beat wants to lay and pray for a moment but Knight keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knight wants to get back to his feet.
Beat seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Beat throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Beat throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Beat wants to advance to full mount but Knight doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Beat wants to control from the top but Knight keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Knight will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Beat is trying hard to land a takedown here. Knight sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Some wild striking there from Knight.
Knight throws a right and a left that Beat avoids nicely.
Knight misses with a two punch combination.
Knight is breathing heavily.
Knight pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Knight tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Knight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Beat scores a takedown into full mount!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Beat postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Knight looks a forlorn figure.
Beat has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Knight avoids a series of strikes thrown by Beat.
Knight is in a horrible position here. Beat smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Knight knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beat on the ground.
Beat throwing strikes here but Knight is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Beat sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Beat is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Knight can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Knight that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Beat goes for an armbar but Knight turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Knight.
Beat thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Beat is trying to control the position but Knight postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deamon Beat dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Beat looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Beat wants to pass the guard but Knight is keeping the position.
Beat trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.
Beat slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Beat wants to lay and pray for a moment but Knight keeps working.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Beat is working Knight over with some ground and pound from side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knight dodges the ground and pound from Beat.

Beat is trying to get an arm triangle but Knight is defending well.
Beat connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Knight some visible discomfort.
Beat is working Knight over with some ground and pound from side control.
Knight is not content to let Beat control the position.

Beat has hold of Knight's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Knight tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Beat cranks the arm and Knight screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Knight, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Deamon Beat!
