The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hiawata stuffs the takedown.
Killings shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with hiawata but hiawata pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Killings looks for a takedown but hiawata sprawls well.

Killings postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! hiawata is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Killings, into his guard.

and hiawata counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by hiawata.
Killings tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Killings thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Killings wants to stand but hiawata is controlling the position.
hiawata must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
hiawata scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Killings looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Killings is working hard here to advance position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Killings misses with a takedown
and hiawata counters with a good low kick that Killings was not able to check.
Killings avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Killings shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and hiawata counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killings won't be happy with that.
hiawata advances to mount.
hiawata prevents Killings from getting the reversal.
hiawata wants to control the pace but Killings is squirming around nicely.

Killings is trying desperately to improve position.
hiawata looking to control and managing it successfully.

hiawata wants to finish this one by submission but Killings is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from hiawata.
Killings tries to lock up and control but hiawata gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Killings shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and hiawata counters with a nice double leg into side control. Killings won't be happy with that.
Killings tries to improve position but can't.
Killings gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

hiawata stands up out of the half guard.

Killings gets a takedown into half guard.
hiawata tries to kick Killings off but Killings keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

hiawata kicks off Killings and gets to his feet.
hiawata fails in his attempt to clinch.

Killings closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Killings tries to pass the half guard into mount. hiawata knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
hiawata is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Killings's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Killings's back!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Killings is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Killings can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as hiawata controls the pace.
Killings manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

hiawata is in a horrible position here. Killings smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The referee warns hiawata that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

hiawata defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Killings.
Killings looking to control but hiawata is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Killings avoids the attempt from hiawata to control.
Killings with good strikes from the mount here!
Killings with shots to the head and body - hiawata looks very uncomfortable down there.

Killings is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. hiawata can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

hiawata is squirming around, avoiding Killings's attempts to control the action.

Killings has control of hiawata's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and hiawata regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Killings in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Killings quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Killings but it's paid off an hiawata is forced to tap! Nice work by Killings.
