Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Doc Terry!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Terry fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Griffin avoids it really well and circles away.
Griffin throws a front kick that sends Terry stumbling back into the cage.
Doc Terry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Griffin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Terry jumps guard but Griffin stands there with Terry around his waist. Terry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Griffin breaks the clinch.

Griffin closes the distance and pushes Terry back into the cage.
Terry tries to pull guard but Griffin won't allow it.
Peter Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doc Terry.

Terry shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Griffin as he avoids it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Terry can do anything to dispel that myth.

Griffin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Terry keeps working.
Griffin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Terry is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Griffin in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Terry is trying to improve his position.
Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Griffin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Terry shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense.
Terry takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Griffin lands with a hook. Terry tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Terry drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Griffin dives on top into guard.

Terry tries for a takedown but Griffin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Griffin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Griffin moves in looking to clinch but Terry pushes him off.

Terry shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Terry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Griffin forces Terry back against the cage and clinches.

Griffin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Terry can't fight it off and eventually Griffin manages to take the fight to the floor. Terry looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Griffin passes Terry's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin thows a huge punch but Terry dodges it nicely.
Terry is pressing down on Griffin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Griffin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Terry, up you get!
Terry shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Griffin pinned against the cage. Griffin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Terry throws a left and a right that both miss
and Griffin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Griffin throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Terry's head.

Griffin takes the fight into the clinch.

Griffin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Griffin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Terry shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Terry takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Peter Griffin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Terry is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Terry drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Griffin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Terry has Griffin in his guard.

and Griffin counters with a low kick, right behind Terry 's knee.
Griffin lands a jab.
Griffin ducks under a wild hook from Terry.
Griffin throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Terry gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Griffin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Terry jumps guard but Griffin stands there with Terry around his waist. Terry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Terry jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Griffin walks away with a smile on his face. Terry gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Terry is trying desperately to land a takedown but Griffin is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Terry.

Terry postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Griffin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Terry, into his guard.

Terry is looking for a triangle here but Griffin uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Griffin throws an elbow but Terry slips to the side and avoids it well.
Griffin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Terry can do to turn this around?
Terry is looking to regain half guard here but Griffin keeps moving and retains side control.
Terry is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Griffin cracks Terry with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Griffin counters with a big head kick but Terry shrugs it off.
Griffin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Griffin.

Griffin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Terry avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Terry tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Griffin smiles and moves away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Griffin drives through and clinches with Terry against the cage.

Well Griffin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
