Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Colin McDermott!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doubleday drives through and clinches with McDermott against the cage.
Doubleday is trying to break the clinch but McDermott is controlling him.
Doubleday wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

McDermott has Doubleday pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McDermott pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Doubleday tumbling to the mat - McDermott dives into Doubleday's guard.

McDermott thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McDermott loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Doubleday trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
McDermott prevents Doubleday from getting back to his feet.

Doubleday escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McDermott.
Doubleday slaps away a takedown attempt from McDermott, before circling back to the center of the mat.
McDermott shoots in looking for a takedown. Doubleday tries to sprawl out of it but McDermott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Doubleday manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Scootsie Doubleday has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colin McDermott.

Doubleday lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDermott circles away quickly and effectively.

McDermott decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McDermott wants to take a breather but Doubleday is having none of it.

Doubleday moves in looking to clinch but McDermott pushes him off.
A jab lands there for Doubleday.
McDermott shoots for a takedown but Doubleday saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

McDermott rushes Doubleday and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Doubleday wants to break the clinch but can't.
Doubleday is trying to force a seperation but McDermott has the dominant position.

Doubleday breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Doubleday scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McDermott avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Doubleday looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Doubleday throws a combination. McDermott tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Scootsie Doubleday is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Doubleday throws out a leg kick but McDermott moves out of range and Doubleday only half commits.

McDermott shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Doubleday as he avoids it easily.
A lazy left from Doubleday finds it's target.
Doubleday throws out a powerful jab.

McDermott drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

McDermott drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McDermott jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Doubleday is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McDermott is aware though and is defending well.

McDermott is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Doubleday pulls his head out easily.

Doubleday seems to be working for a kimura but McDermott defends the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McDermott wants to control but Doubleday is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scootsie Doubleday dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
