The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson misses with a straight left.
Jones moves into range and clinches up with Thompson.
Thompson pressing his opponent against the cage.
Thompson wants to break free but Jones has control.
Thompson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thompson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Thompson with a jab.
It looks like Jerry Jones has been cut.
Jones showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Thompson.
Jones takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones takes one on the button.
Jones wants to clinch.
Thompson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Jones looks gassed!
Jones tries to clinch there but Thompson circles away.
Thompson lands a big uppercut and Jones crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Jones looks OK. Thompson waves Jones back to his feet!
Jones is rocked!
Thompson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Thompson finish him?
Jones drops his hands momentarily. Thompson doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Jones staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Jones doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rick Thompson!
