PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Falaris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Falaris comes to the cage accompanied by Oficina G3 - Depois da Guerra. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Andre Jones was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus Falaris!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Jones!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Falaris was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jones prevents Falaris from getting back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Falaris is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones passes Falaris's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Falaris is trying to stand up here but Jones is controlling him well.
Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones looks to land a strike but Falaris avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Jonesis looking to pass into half guard but Falaris pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Falaris is in guard.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Falaris is trying to stand.

Jones looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Falaris with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jones prevents Falaris from standing back up.
Falaris is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jones scores with a couple of nice shots.
Jones misses with a head shot. Falaris uses the momentum to regain guard.
Falaris is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jones throws and elbow that misses. Falaris uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Falaris!
Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Falaris!

Jones throwing strikes but Falaris bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

Falaris wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones is in close to Falaris's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jones prevents Falaris from getting back to his feet.
Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jones lands a couple of digs.

Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Falaris wants to stand up but Jones is controlling him.
Falaris is breathing heavily.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones postures up in Falaris's guard and throws a big left but Falaris blocks it.
Falaris wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jones misses with a looping left.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Falaris throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Falaris throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jones.
Falaris steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones.
A chopping leg kick lands by Falaris.
Nice body kick from Falaris.
Marcus Falaris is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Falaris tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Falaris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andre Jones will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jones dodges the punch combination from Falaris.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Falaris.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Falaris goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Falaris connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Falaris dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jones. That did some damage!
Danga de danga de dang - Falaris scores with a four punch combination!
Falaris goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Falaris defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A head kick from Falaris lands but Jones takes it in his stride.
Falaris scoring well with a low kick there.
Falaris scores with a spinning back kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Falaris lands with an overhand left.
Falaris lands a nice looking body shot.
Left hook, right uppercut from Falaris.
Jones takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Falaris works over Jones's head and body with a nice combination.
Falaris lands with a kick to the temple. Jones shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Falaris lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Falaris lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Falaris.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Falaris.
Andre Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A good leg kick by Falaris.
Falaris throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Marcus Falaris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Falaris lands with a thumping leg kick.
Falaris is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Marcus Falaris is winning the standup battle so far.
Falaris stalks Jones and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jones's face. Jones staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones thows a left - swing and a miss!
Falaris connects with a high kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Falaris dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Left hook, right uppercut from Falaris.
Falaris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?
Falaris scores with a three punch combo!

Falaris lands a big head kick that sends Jones tumbling to the mat! Falaris takes a step backwards and waves Jones back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Jones is rocked!
Nice body kick from Falaris.
Falaris thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Jones if he has to take too many more of those.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Falaris looks to land a combination. Jones sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Falaris plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Whack! Falaris lands a heavy head kick that drops Jones. The ref tackles Falaris to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Jones was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Marcus Falaris!
