Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vel Sirra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Modelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sirra comes to the cage accompanied by Omen by Prodigy. Vel Sirra has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Modelo is looking to clinch but Sirra is avoiding it.
Sirra swats away the attempt to clinch by Modelo.
Sirra chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A combination from Sirra does no damage.
Sirra shoots in for a takedown but Modelo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sirra lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sirra connects with a solid leg kick.
Modelo tries to clinch but Sirra moves out of range.

Sirra goes for a takedown attempt but Modelo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Vel Sirra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nice straight punches there by Modelo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Modelo.

Modelo throws a sloppy head kick and Sirra moves out of range easily.

Sirra closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Modelo to the mat! Modelo manages to get full guard.
Sirra pushes down on Modelo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Sirra winds up and cracks Modelo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sirra passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Modelo!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sirra lands with some strikes.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sirra goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Modelo is on top in guard.
Modelo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sirra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sirra has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sirra is looking for a triangle but Modelo pushes his legs off easily.

Modelo throws and elbow that misses. Sirra uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Modelo's guard. Nice move by Sirra!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sirra passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Modelo can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sirra tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sirra has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
