Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joshua Botelho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Edwards!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Edwards throws a right hand that Botelho ducks under and follows up with a left that Botelho also avoids with ease.
Botelho fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Edwards clinches up with Botelho and pushes him back against the cage.

Edwards is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Botelho can't fight it off and eventually Edwards manages to take the fight to the floor. Botelho looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Edwards working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Botelho's head.

Botelho has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edwards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Edwards must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Botelho has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Edwards is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Botelho.
Botelho is looking to regain half guard here but Edwards keeps moving and retains side control.
Edwards trying to control the action but Botelho is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Edwards is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Botelho has escaped the position, nice work there.
Botelho is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Edwards off and has taken his back!
Edwards rolls, trying to escape but Botelho keeps control of the position.

Botelho has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Edwards! Can he survive? No! He's out! Botelho gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
