Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franklyn Hilfinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Franklyn Hilfinger has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Franklyn Hilfinger seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Souza!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza doesn't manage to clinch there - Hilfinger circles away.
Souza moves in looking to clinch but Hilfinger pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Souza looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hilfinger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Souza circles away.
Souza wants to clinch up but Hilfinger keeps it at a distance.

Hilfinger shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hilfinger stalling away here and it's allowed Souza to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Souza avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hilfinger working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hilfinger has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Souza is proving hard to escape from.
Hilfinger in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Souza is trying to control the position but Hilfinger postures up.
Hilfinger has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hilfinger slips under a jab from Souza.
Hilfinger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Souza's waist but Souza gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hilfinger off to one side.
Souza tries to clinch there but Hilfinger circles away.
Horrible takedown by Hilfinger or perhaps it was just good defense by Souza which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Franklyn Hilfinger. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Souza is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hilfinger's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hilfinger's back!
Souza looks gassed!

Souza is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Hilfinger is tapping out! This one is all over!
