PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hardcore Junior I (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blippy Janks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior I comes to the cage accompanied by clear. Blippy Janks is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hardcore Junior I!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Blippy Janks!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Janks closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Janks lands in his opponent's guard.

Junior I isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Janks stacks Junior I on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Janks!
Janks misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Janks throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Junior I works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Janks is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Janks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Janks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Junior I, who protects the arm well.

Janks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Janks avoids the strikes from the bottom by Junior I.
Janks is chipping away with strikes.

Janks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Junior I is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Janks advances to mount.

Janks unloads with some shots from mount but Junior I bucks and avoids them well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blippy Janks dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Janks decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Junior I's guard.
Janks slips nicely into half guard.
Janks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Janks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Junior I does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Junior I is staying active underneath Janks, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Junior I gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Janks counters with a single leg into guard. Junior I didn't expect that.
Junior I will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Junior I utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Janks drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Janks seems to have locked his on tight now - Junior I screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Janks, as he picks up the win!
