Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alysian Karalis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gavin Phillips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alysian Karalis!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Eddie Farnsworth and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karalis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Phillips's guard.
Phillips controls Karalis momentarily but Karalis frees himself.
Karalis trying to control the position from guard on top but Phillips is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Karalis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Phillips's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karalis working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Karalis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Phillips is looking to stand but Phillips has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Karalis bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Karalis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Alysian Karalis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Karalis shoots in and bounces Phillips off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Phillips will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Karalis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Karalis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Phillips's guard.

Karalis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Phillips is just riding it out for now. Karalis eventually gives up the hold.

Phillips shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Karalis but Karalis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Karalis winds up and cracks Phillips with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Karalis is pressing down on Phillips's thigh, looking to free his foot. Phillips is holding on for now.
Karalis is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Karalis.
Horrible takedown by Phillips or perhaps it was just good defense by Karalis which made him look bad.
Phillips closes the distance and clinches up with Karalis, looking for a takedown. Phillips pushes Karalis against the cage but Karalis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well Karalis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
