PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike McKinley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Karzamoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McKinley comes to the cage accompanied by Swing That Tambourine. Karzamoff is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sweep The Leg. Sergei Karzamoff has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike McKinley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergei Karzamoff!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKinley moves away from the strike by Karzamoff.

McKinley scores with a takedown into Karzamoff's guard.

McKinley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Karzamoff is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McKinley defends well.
McKinley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Karzamoff swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Karzamoff has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McKinley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Karzamoff can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McKinley controls the pace.
McKinley passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McKinley is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Karzamoff has escaped the position, nice work there.

McKinley swings around for an armbar but Karzamoff sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McKinley's guard.

Karzamoff gets to his feet. McKinley looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
McKinley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Karzamoff circles away.
Karzamoff lands a big shot that drops McKinley! Can he finish him?


It looks like Mike McKinley has been cut.
McKinley is breathing heavily.

McKinley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Karzamoff doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Karzamoff manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Karzamoff controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

McKinley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karzamoff is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Karzamoff gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A punch lands to the side of McKinley 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Karzamoff moves into range and clinches up with McKinley.
McKinley has Karzamoff pressed against the cage, preventing Karzamoff from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Karzamoff is trying to break free.
Karzamoff wants to get back to striking at distance but McKinley won't allow it.
McKinley stalling in the clinch but Karzamoff improves position.

Karzamoff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Karzamoff jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McKinley.
McKinley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Karzamoff defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike McKinley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Karzamoff cracks McKinley with an uppercut from hell and McKinley crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Karzamoff's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


McKinley is rocked!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Karzamoff stays in close to McKinley's body and controls the position.
McKinley striking off his back but it's not causing Karzamoff any problems.

Karzamoff stands and steps away. McKinley gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McKinley ducks under a wild hook from Karzamoff.
McKinley tries to score a power double leg takedown but Karzamoff sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McKinley somewhat.
Karzamoff closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops McKinley! Karzamoff dives in looking to finish! McKinley is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergei Karzamoff!
