PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake The GridIron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoko Dokodo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The GridIron comes into the arena with eminem"im a solja" blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The GridIron gets a takedown into half guard.
Dokodo pushes The GridIron off looking to stand but The GridIron dives back in and keeps control.

The GridIron is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The GridIron seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dokodo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The GridIron has gone for a leg lock! Dokodo slips out almost immediately though and dives into The GridIron's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dokodo is on top in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as The GridIron accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The GridIron is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The GridIron looking to sit in guard and control but Dokodo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The GridIron will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The GridIron shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than The GridIron was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The GridIron has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dokodo's face.

The GridIron swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dokodo is now in The GridIron's guard. A big mistake from The GridIron there, giving up the dominant position!

The GridIron working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dokodo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dokodo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dokodo got a little sloppy there for a moment and The GridIron has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dokodo has managed to get both his arms back between The GridIron's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The GridIron is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Dokodo defends well.
The GridIron utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dokodo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dokodo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The GridIron has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Dokodo should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, The GridIron has tightened it up now! Dokodo should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
