The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgroin wants to clinch up but Washington keeps it at a distance.
Washington lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Mcgroin is rocked!

It looks like Phil Mcgroin has been cut.
Washington throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mcgroin's waist but Mcgroin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Washington off to one side.
Mcgroin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Washington counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mcgroin won't be happy with that.
Mcgroin is still in real trouble! Can Washington finish him?

Washington is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mcgroin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Washington tries to advance to mount but Mcgroin denies him.
Washington has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Washington throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Mcgroin has his hands clasped together but Washington breaks the hold and Mcgroin is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Washington!
