Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Victor Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk misses with a wild combination.
Hawk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
No joy there for Hawk, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Trombone showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hawk.
A big right from Hawk misses.
A jab from Hawk misses.
Victor Hawk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch combination from Hawk misses.
The fighters circling - Hawk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hawk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Trombone circles away quickly and effectively.

Trombone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hawk sprawls well initially but Trombone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hawk pushes Trombone off looking to stand but Trombone dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Trombone content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Trombone is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Trombone will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Trombone wants to control but Hawk is keeping him busy.
Hawk looks like he's trying to stand up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rusty Trombone dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Hawk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hawk cracks Trombone with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Hawk moves out of range of the strikes.
Trombone dodges the punch combination from Hawk.
Trombone uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hawk.
Hawk misses with a straight left.
Victor Hawk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice straight punches there by Hawk. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hawk.

Trombone swats away the attempt to clinch by Hawk.
Hawk throws an overhand right that lands on Trombone's shoulder, as Trombone tries to avoid the shot.

Hawk might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Victor Hawk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hawk throws out a loose jab but Trombone uses good head movement to avoid it.

Trombone sizes up Hawk with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Trombone is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Hawk gets caught flat footed, as Trombone shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hawk can do anything to dispel that myth.
Trombone slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Well Trombone has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
