PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Marx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Spinx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spinx is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Eye of the Tiger. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jack Spinx was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Spinx!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marx scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Marx shoots for a takedown but Spinx saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Spinx uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Marx.

Marx closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Spinx to the mat! Spinx manages to get full guard.
Marx postures up in Spinx's guard and throws a big left but Spinx blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Marx shoots in looking for a takedown. Spinx tries to sprawl out of it but Marx keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spinx manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Spinx's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jack Spinx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Marx shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Marx was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
