Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Junior Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rivera kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Tupac - Hell Razor (remix). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Junior Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dan Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivera darts in and clinches Pierre up against the cage.

Pierre breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pierre lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rivera circles away quickly and effectively.
Pierre misses with a double jab.
Pierre misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rivera.
Rivera avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Horrible takedown by Rivera or perhaps it was just good defense by Pierre which made him look bad.
Rivera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pierre circles away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rivera wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pierre shoots in for a takedown but Rivera shows good takedown defense.
Pierre rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rivera moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Rivera throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Pierre blocks it with crossed arms.

Rivera manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pierre manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pierre can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rivera wants to control but Pierre is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rivera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pierre doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rivera.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Rivera looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Rivera uses his free foot to push down on Pierre's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pierre.
Pierre is looking to improve his position but Rivera isn't that keen on the idea.

Pierre is breathing heavily.
Rivera is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pierre is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well Rivera has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
