The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Van Bastad clinches.
Brasco has Van Bastad pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Van Bastad manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Van Bastad blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Brasco can't get the takedown.
A right handed body shot lands from Van Bastad.
Van Bastad really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Van Bastad's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Brasco is trying hard to land a takedown here. Van Bastad sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Brasco closes the distance and clinches up with Van Bastad, looking for a takedown. Brasco pushes Van Bastad against the cage but Van Bastad circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brasco fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Van Bastad fakes the leg kick and cracks Brasco in the body.

Brasco takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Brasco is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Brasco changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Bastad tries to avoid it but Brasco manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Bastad to the ground. Van Bastad escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Brasco tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Van Bastad keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Brasco's efforts to push away.
Brasco wants a takedown.
Brasco drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Van Bastad gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Van Bastad effectively controlling the action here.
Brasco drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brasco tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Van Bastad smiles and moves away.
Van Bastad tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brasco was well out of range. Poor timing from Van Bastad.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Van Bastad is not content to let Brasco control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brasco working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Brasco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Brasco swings around for an armbar but Van Bastad sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brasco's guard.

Van Bastad has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Brasco to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Van Bastad is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Brasco pulls down on the head and he's put Van Bastad to sleep! This one is all over!
