PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Kushner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro De Pacas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pedro De Pacas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kushner.
Kushner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kushner decides to stand back up. Kushner steps back and let's De Pacas get back to his feet.

Kushner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kushner wants to control but De Pacas is keeping him busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kushner is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Pacas defends it well.
Kushner is taking a breather. De Pacas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

De Pacas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
De Pacas swats away the attempt to clinch by Kushner.
Kushner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around De Pacas's waist but De Pacas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kushner off to one side.
Kushner is breathing heavily.
Kushner looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
De Pacas throws a right and a left that Kushner avoids nicely.

Kushner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Kushner would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
De Pacas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kushner stands up over De Pacas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

De Pacas scrambles and gets back to his feet.
De Pacas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

De Pacas rushes Kushner and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kushner is looking for a takedown up against the cage. De Pacas gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - De Pacas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kushner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Pacas sprawls well. De Pacas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kushner gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



De Pacas feints and as Kushner raises his hands in defense, De Pacas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kushner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. De Pacas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kushner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take De Pacas's back instead.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kushner lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

De Pacas is fighting to break Kushner's control of his arms but Kushner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Kushner looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but De Pacas puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

William Kushner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kushner is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De Pacas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De Pacas's back!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
De Pacas wants to control from the top but Kushner keeps moving.
Kushner wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and De Pacas is now in half guard.

Kushner is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but De Pacas pulls his head out easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Pedro De Pacas will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Kushner takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Kushner shoots for a takedown but De Pacas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
William Kushner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kushner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Horrible takedown by Kushner or perhaps it was just good defense by De Pacas which made him look bad.

and Kushner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in De Pacas's guard now.

Kushner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Pacas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kushner has gone for a leg lock! De Pacas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kushner's guard.

De Pacas tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Kushner.

William Kushner showed his dominance in that final round.
