PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaleb Rasheed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rasheed comes into the arena with In the air tonight blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kaleb Rasheed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Danny Dog!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Dog. That snapped Rasheed's head back.
Rasheed defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dog.
Dog has a takedown stuffed.

Rasheed has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dog comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Dog tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rasheed just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kaleb Rasheed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Dog.
Dog working Rasheed over with knees to the body.
Rasheed pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Dog has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Rasheed uses from the top position.

Dog has an active guard here but Rasheed has managed to pass into half guard.

Rasheed is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dog doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rasheed.

Dog has one foot on Rasheed's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Dog moves away from the strike by Rasheed.
Rasheed throws a right and a left that Dog avoids nicely.
Rasheed slaps away a takedown attempt from Dog, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rasheed throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Dog tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rasheed paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rasheed throws a head kick that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dog shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rasheed defends it nicely.

Dog has managed to clinch.
Rasheed could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rasheed has Dog pressed against the cage, preventing Dog from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Rasheed stops a takedown attempt from Dog.
Rasheed throws a knee to the head but misses.
Dog goes for a takedown attempt but Rasheed pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dog looks gassed!
Dog shoots for a double leg takedown but Rasheed sprawls well. He's pushed Dog's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dog pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rasheed finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Rasheed buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

A bone on bone clash there as Dog blocks the leg kick.

Rasheed gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dog looking to sit in guard and control but Rasheed gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dog wants to stand but Rasheed is controlling the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rasheed stands up and waves to Dog to follow him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rasheed tries a low kick but Dog avoids it.
Some wild striking there from Rasheed.
Dog stuns Rasheed with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Dog fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rasheed looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rasheed tries to clinch there but Dog circles away.
Dog throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Dog lands a nice looking body shot.

Rasheed tries to keep at a distance but Dog has taken the fight into the clinch.
Dog tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rasheed smiles and moves away.
Dog throws a sloppy head kick and Rasheed moves out of range easily.
Rasheed throws a nice outside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Dog dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rasheed takes a kick to the side of the head.

Dog forces Rasheed back against the cage and clinches.
Rasheed misses with a knee to the head.

Dog breaks from the clinch.

Dog gets a clinch.
Dog tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rasheed smiles and moves away.
A punch combination from Rasheed misses.
Rasheed throws a right and a left that Dog avoids nicely.
Rasheed avoids a kick to the body.
Dog pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rasheed crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dog - the referee stops the clock and Rasheed gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dog. Rasheed manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Dog rushes Rasheed and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rasheed takes an elbow to the temple.
Dog manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dog tries to pull guard but Rasheed won't allow it.
Rasheed looking to throw knees to the head but Dog is blocking nicely.

Dog pulls Rasheed into guard.
Dog is trying to keep Rasheed in close.
Rasheed wants to control from the top but Dog keeps moving.

Rasheed is posturing up here but Dog has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rasheed tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rasheed has to tap! Slick submission there by Dog!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Danny Dog!
