Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Parrado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlos Parrado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Watson!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parrado throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Watson's waist but Watson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parrado off to one side.

Watson rushes Parrado and presses him up against the cage.
Watson lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Watson breaks from the clinch.
Parrado is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Parrado shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Watson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Watson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Watson looking to control but Parrado passes into half guard.
Parrado stalling.

Watson kicks Parrado off and gets back to his feet.
Watson lands a nice hook to Parrado's body. Parrado takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Watson wants to clinch.
A jab from Watson finds it's way through Parrado's defenses.
Watson throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Parrado drives through and clinches with Watson against the cage.

Watson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A slow jab from Watson misses its intended target.

Watson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Parrado!
Parrado keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Watson wants to control the pace but Parrado is squirming around nicely.
Parrado is trying desperately to improve position.
Watson controlling the pace for now.
Parrado is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Parrado is breathing heavily.

Watson is working for a guillotine from mount but Parrado frees his head quite easily.

Watson looking to control but Parrado is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Watson prevents Parrado from getting the reversal.
Watson scoring with strikes but Parrado is staying in there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Watson looking to finish Parrado with some ground and pound. This is bad for Parrado!
Parrado really wants to buck Watson off and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parrado manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Watson trying to control from half guard but Parrado is working away.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Watson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Watson slows the pace down in half guard.
Watson lands with a punch from half guard.
Parrado is trying to maintain the position but Watson is very close to passing his half guard.
Parrado gets full guard.
Watson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Watson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Parrado really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Parrado wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Watson.
Watson wants to control the pace but Parrado is squirming around nicely.
Watson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Parrado is looking to improve his position but Watson isn't that keen on the idea.

Parrado swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Parrado is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Parrado slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Watson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Parrado is trying to control the position but Watson postures up.

Parrado pushes Watson off and scrambles back to his feet.

Watson stalks Parrado and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Parrado's face. Parrado staggers backwards, shaken.
Parrado shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

so Watson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Watson trying to control the position from guard on top but Parrado is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Watson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Parrado is trying to keep Watson in close.

Parrado wants to sweep here but Watson controlling him for the moment.
Watson postures up.
Watson trying to control but Parrado is working from the bottom.
Watson wants to pass the guard but Parrado is keeping the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Parrado.

Parrado wants to lay and pray for a moment but Watson keeps working.
Watson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
It looks like Parrado is going to stand back up.
Watson wants to improve his position but Parrado is controlling well.
Watson wants to control but Parrado is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Watson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Parrado feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Parrado controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Parrado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Watson wants to stand up but Parrado is controlling him.
Watson wants to sweep here but Parrado controlling him for the moment.
Parrado controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Watson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Parrado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Parrado trying to control but Watson is working from the bottom.
Parrado controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Parrado wants to control from the top but Watson keeps moving.

Watson working for a triangle but Parrado defends it easily.
Parrado stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Watson looking for a sweep. Not yet Watson, not yet.
Parrado stops Watson from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Parrado closes the distance and pushes Watson back into the cage.
Watson tries to pull guard but Parrado won't allow it.
Watson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Parrado pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Parrado drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Parrado wants to get back to striking at distance but Watson won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Watson keeps control of Parrado as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Parrado wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Watson has him pressed against the cage.

Watson pulls guard effortlessly.
Watson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Watson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Parrado manages to get himself to full guard.

Watson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Watson misses with a takedown

and Parrado counters with a shoot takedown. Watson fights it but they end up in guard.
Carlos Parrado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Watson.
Watson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Parrado's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Parrado stands up and waves to Watson to follow him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Parrado shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Watson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Parrado with a flurry of punches that miss.
Carlos Parrado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
