PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and nvus V (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, nvus V!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
V pulls out of a head kick attempt.
nvus V seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
V throws a series of punches but Silva moves out of range.
V throws a looping overhand right but Silva ducks down to avoid it.
V tries a head kick but it misses.
A leg kick checked by Silva.
V throws a head kick that misses.
Silva dives in and grabs V's left leg, looking for a takedown. V pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
V throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
V misses the jab.
A jab from V misses.
V defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.
V lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A slapping leg kick lands for V.
Silva is breathing heavily.
V throws a jab but it's blocked by Silva.
Silva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from V.
V keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

V looks to land a combination but Silva avoids it well.
V tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva throws a combination but it was largely blocked by V.

nvus V is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. V can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if V can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Silva moves away from the strike by V.
V looks to land a right hand but Silva moved out of range.
Good standup being displayed there by V as he connects with a hook.

It looks like Anderson Silva has been cut.
V throws and low kick but Silva moves out of range easily.
Silva tries for a takedown but V sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
V throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range.
Silva slips under a jab from V.
V misses with a double jab

and Silva counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Silva pushes down on V's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Silva blocks the strikes from V.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
V tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
V throws a push kick but Silva slaps the foot to one side.
V throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
V throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
V thows a left - swing and a miss!
Anderson Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

V throws a hook but Silva avoids it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
V lands the left hand.
V throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Silva clinches with his opponent.
V is trying to drag Silva to the mat but Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Silva jumps guard and drags V to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
V lands a couple of elbows.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Silva counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Silva.
V tries to score a body lock takedown but Silva shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

V has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Silva clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Silva manages to reverse the position and now he's in V's guard. Nice work there by Silva.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

V is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close second round but I would say that Anderson Silva will probably get the nod.

Silva leaves his chin hanging out and V seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Silva crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
