Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Bader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for John Doe has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Bader!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe lands a jab-cross combination.
Doe tries to close the distance and clinch but Bader swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Doe lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Doe fails to land with a series of punches.
Bader slips a jab and a cross from Doe.
Doe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Doe is breathing heavily.
Bader shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Doe but Doe pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Doe pushes Bader up against the cage in a clinch.
Bader taking a breather.

Bader breaks from the clinch.
Doe wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Doe stuffs the takedown.
Doe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bader avoids the body shot from Doe.
A punch combination from Doe misses.

Doe connects with a high kick.
Doe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bader throws a nice looking combination but Doe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Doe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Doe misses with a double jab

and Bader counters by moving into the clinch.

Bader gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Doe regains guard.
Doe is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Doe pushes Bader off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Doe digs a good hook to Bader's body.
Bader moves out of range of the body kick.
Doe lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Bader shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Doe is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Bader controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bader passes Doe's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Doe pushes Bader off looking to stand but Bader dives back in and keeps control.
Bader is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Doe moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Doe will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Doe wants to stand and escape but Bader is having none of it.

Doe looking for a sweep. Not yet Doe, not yet.
Doe has control of Bader's left arm, preventing Bader from doing any damage.
Doe is trying to control the position but Bader postures up.
Bader throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Doe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bader pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Doe is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Doe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bader, pushing him back against the cage.
Bader lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Bader stalling the fight.
Bader jumps guard but Doe stands there with Bader around his waist. Bader gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Bader.

Bader breaks from the clinch.

Bader instigates a clinch.

Bader escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Doe tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Bader counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bader sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Doe defending well though.
Doe tries to kick Bader off but Bader keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Doe is controlling Bader's trapped leg to prevent Bader from advancing to side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Doe wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ryan Bader will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bader does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Doe throws a nice head kick!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Doe!
Doe throws a right and a left that both miss.
Doe throws a sloppy head kick

and Bader counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Bader.
Bader manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Doe stalls.
Doe wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bader has him pressed against the cage.
Bader fails to pull guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Doe has had enough of the clinch but Bader keeps him there for the moment.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Doe takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Bader wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Doe wants to break the clinch but can't.

Bader tries to pull guard but Doe won't allow it.

Doe looks to land a combination but Bader avoids it well.
Doe throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bader.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bader misses with a takedown attempt - Doe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Bader.
Doe throws a combination. Bader tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Doe fails in his attempt to clinch.
Doe throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Bader fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Bader is looking to land body kicks.
Bader will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bader controls the position.
Doe tries to control but Bader wriggling away.
Doe controlling the pace for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bader is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A left and a right from Doe both land. Nice combination.

Doe tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Bader has good solid back control here.
Bader doesn't have the hooks in and Doe manages to turn into his guard.

Bader keeps control of Doe as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Bader landing knees to the body.

Bader manages to pull guard.
Doe throwing strikes from guard but Bader blocks nicely.
Bader is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Doe content to stall in guard here.
Doe wants to stand but Bader has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Doe is looking to take a break and control but Bader is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bader can't do much from the bottom here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bader thuds his right hand into Doe's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Bader closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Bader is trying to trip Doe. He has hold of a leg but Doe is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bader persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Doe trying to keep a closed guard but Bader is proving a slippery customer.
Bader is stalling in the full guard.

Let's hope that Bader has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

and Bader decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Doe's guard.
Ryan Bader has got the better of the ground game so far.

I think Bader has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
