Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Royal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sammy Royal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Foster!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Foster closes the distance and clinches.
Royal drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Foster gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Foster breaks from the clinch.
Royal tries to bum rush Foster with a series of wild strikes but Foster uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Foster fails with a takedown attempt.

Royal fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Foster sprawls well initially but Royal persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Royal thows a huge punch but Foster dodges it nicely.
Foster wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Royal missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Royal could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Foster is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Royal seems to be working for a kimura but Foster defends the submission attempt.
Royal trying to control from Foster's half guard. Foster has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Royal stands up and waves to Foster to follow him.
Royal moves into range and connects with a jab.
Royal throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Royal counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Foster takes a shot to the head.
Still in the clinch, Foster scores with a nice short uppercut.
Royal manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Royal gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Royal seems to be working for a kimura but Foster defends the submission attempt.
Royal tries to pass the half guard into mount. Foster knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Royal is breathing heavily.
Foster is looking to improve his position.
Foster wants to get back to his feet.
Royal wants to control but Foster is keeping him busy.
Royal prevents Foster from improving his position.

Foster is defending against the submission attempts here by Royal.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Foster tries for a takedown but Royal circles away easily
letting Royal counter with a right hand.
Sammy Royal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Foster.
Foster tries to close the distance and clinch but Royal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Royal scores with a one two! Foster had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Royal is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Royal lands a nice looking body shot.
Sammy Royal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Royal looks to clinch
and Foster makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Foster dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Royal. That did some damage!

Foster throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Royal decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Foster's guard.
Royal throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Foster is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Royal stands up over Foster, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Royal trying to control the position from guard on top but Foster is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Foster avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Royal tries to stand but Foster is controlling from the bottom.
Foster pulls Royal in to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sammy Royal dominated that round.
That's time! Royal's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Royal shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Royal showed some decent athleticism there.
Royal is trying to control. Foster wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Royal is just content to waste time from the top position. Foster takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Foster is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Foster pushes Royal off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Sammy Royal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Royal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Foster swivels and escapes.
Royal looks to land a combination but Foster avoids it well.

Royal moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Royal throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Foster breaks from the clinch.
Royal throws a combination that misses
and Foster counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Royal closes the distance but Foster moves to the side

and Foster counters with a nice double leg into side control. Royal won't be happy with that.
Foster is looking to take a break and control but Royal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Foster has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Foster prevents Royal from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foster lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Foster has isolated one of Royal's arms. Royal looking to fight him off but Foster twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
