PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Judas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Judas's entrance music is Hallelujah. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mikael Judas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Drake!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Judas wants to clinch.
Judas fails with a takedown attempt.

Judas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mikael Judas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drake uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Judas.
Judas shoots for a double leg takedown but Drake sprawls well. He's pushed Judas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Judas tries to close the distance and clinch but Drake swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Judas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drake's waist but Drake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Judas off to one side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Judas.

Drake feints and as Judas raises his hands in defense, Drake changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Judas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Drake accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Drake stays in close to Judas's body and controls the position.
Drake wants to control from the top but Judas keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drake throwing strikes but missing.
Judas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Judas misses with a takedown
and Drake counters with a body kick.
Judas is breathing heavily.

Drake drives through with a takedown into guard.
Drake trying to control but Judas is working from the bottom.
Judas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Drake controls the pace.
Drake advances position into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Drake looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Judas wants to control but Drake postures up.
Judas is trying to get back to his feet.
Drake moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Drake scoring with punches and elbows.
Drake has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Judas tries to lock up and control but Drake gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Drake lands a big shot there that rocks Judas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Drake scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Judas?
Drake content just to control the position here.

Drake is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Judas has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Judas!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Drake dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Drake shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Judas's guard.
Drake pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Judas is keeping the position for now.
Judas looking to control.

Drake drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Drake jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Judas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Drake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Drake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Drake is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Judas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Judas has escaped and now he's on top!

Drake looking to control.
Judas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Drake on the ground.
Judas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Judas trying to control the position from guard on top but Drake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Drake is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Drake thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Drake slips nicely into half guard.
Judas pushes Drake off looking to stand but Drake dives back in and keeps control.
Judas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Drake moves into full mount! Judas won't be happy about that!
A nice elbow there by Drake.
Judas is looking to get to half guard.

Drake is working for a guillotine from mount but Judas frees his head quite easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Drake landing strikes from the mount.
Drake scoring with strikes but Judas is staying in there.

Drake working for a submission but Judas is keeping him at bay.

Drake looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Judas tries to reverse the position but Drake maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Drake lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Drake is going olschool here, as he tries to force Judas to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Judas shrugs it off.

Drake working for a submission but Judas is keeping him at bay.
Judas sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Drake frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Drake content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Drake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

so Drake counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Judas looking to control.
Drake loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Judas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Drake content to stall in guard here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Drake's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Drake thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Drakeis looking to pass into half guard but Judas pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Judas is in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Drake is on top in guard.
Drake stops Judas from standing up.
Drake works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Drake is taking a breather. Judas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Drake is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Judas is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
