Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Murdoch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Partridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Partridge is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Murdoch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Adam Partridge!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Partridge shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Murdoch manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Partridge showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Murdoch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Murdoch controls Partridge momentarily but Partridge frees himself.
Partridge is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Partridge wants to control from the top but Murdoch keeps moving.
Partridge must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Murdoch looking for a sweep. Not yet Murdoch, not yet.

Murdoch has his foot on Partridge's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Partridge works his way back into a safe position though.

Let's hope that Partridge has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Partridge really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Murdoch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Partridge stops Murdoch from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Murdoch tries to clinch up.

Partridge shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Partridge showed some decent athleticism there.

Partridge perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Murdoch wants to improve his position but Partridge is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Partridge is taking a breather. Murdoch says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Murdoch pushes Partridge off looking to stand but Partridge dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Partridge shoots in for a takedown but Murdoch shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Murdoch stuffs the takedown.
Murdoch is looking to clinch but Partridge is avoiding it.

and Partridge counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Murdoch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Partridge is aware though and is defending well.
Partridge's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Murdoch is pulling down on Partridge's head to control his posture.

Murdoch had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Partridge is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Murdoch Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Partridge's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Partridge doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Murdoch counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Murdoch.
Murdoch tries to score a body lock takedown but Partridge shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Partridge is trying to drag Murdoch to the mat but Murdoch just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Partridge jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Murdoch walks away with a smile on his face. Partridge gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mike Murdoch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Partridge.
Murdoch misses with a wild combination.
Partridge will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Murdoch, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Partridge decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Murdoch's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Murdoch holds on and takes a little breather.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Partridge moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Murdoch has worked his arm free - good work by Murdoch!

Partridge tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Partridge has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Partridge accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Partridge wants to pass the guard but Murdoch is keeping the position.

Adam Partridge showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Murdoch shoots in but no luck this time.

Murdoch is trying to stick to Partridge's back but Partridge is turning into Murdoch. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Murdoch's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Partridge.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Murdoch wants to sweep here but Partridge controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mike Murdoch.
I think Partridge has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
