PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robertson Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Caine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Caine is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robertson Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Caine!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Silver.
Caine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Silver looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Caine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silver was covering up waiting for the punch and Caine finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Caine passes into half guard.
Caine with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Silver is looking to improve his position.

Caine seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Silver trying to control from the bottom.
Caine performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Caine is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silver defends it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Caine wants to free his trapped foot but Silver is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Silver wants to get back to full guard.

Caine takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Caine is working for a submission of some sort.
Well, if Caine is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Caine is looking for a kimura here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Caine takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Caine dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Caine avoids the head kick by Silver.
Silver throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Silver wants to clinch up but Caine keeps it at a distance.
Robertson Silver is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Caine scores a takedown into full mount!

Caine looking to secure an arm triangle but Silver defends it well.
Caine tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Caine is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Caine changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silver looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Silver is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Caine taking a breather here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silver is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Caine is controlling him well.
Caine controls the position from side control.
Silver is pushing Caine's head away, looking to escape. Caine manages to hold on to the position though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Caine is staying tight to Silver's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Let's hope that Caine has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Marcus Caine just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silver misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Robertson Silver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Caine scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Silver is trying to get back to his feet.

Caine happy to just control the position for now.
Caine working away.
Caine content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Caine decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silver to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Caine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Caine counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silver won't be happy with that.
Silver is trying to escape the position but Caine is controlling the position.
Silver looking for a sweep but Caine has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Caine is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Silver looks to clinch

and Caine counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silver!
Caine looking to control and managing it successfully.
Silver is desperately trying to improve his position but Caine has a good base and remains in mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Caine controlling the pace for now.
Robertson Silver has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Despite being in the dominant position, Marcus Caine just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Caine closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Silver is being controlled here.
Silver looking for a sweep but Caine has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Caine tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Marcus Caine is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Caine is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Caine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Caine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
