PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucky Seven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juhan Ubin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucky Seven!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Juhan Ubin!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seven tries to clinch there but Ubin circles away.
Seven tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ubin swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ubin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Seven fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ubin sprawls well initially but Seven persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Seven is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Seven is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ubin misses with a series of wild punches.

Seven goes for a takedown attempt but Ubin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucky Seven. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Seven lands a nice short elbow.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Seven shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ubin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Ubin throws a nice looking combination but Seven bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Seven closes the distance and clinches up with Ubin, looking for a takedown. Seven pushes Ubin against the cage but Ubin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Seven doesn't manage to clinch there - Ubin circles away.

Ubin looks to land a combination. Seven sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Juhan Ubin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Seven looks for a takedown but Ubin sprawls well.

Ubin is pressed up against the cage. Seven has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ubin down to the mat. Ubin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lucky Seven dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Seven throws a head kick that misses.
Ubin swats away the attempt to clinch by Seven.
Seven is looking to land body kicks.
Seven chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ubin can pounce on him.

and Ubin counters by moving into the clinch.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seven is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ubin defends well.
Ubin is looking to stand up but Seven won't let him.

Seven escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ubin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Seven had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ubin is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Seven Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ubin's back instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Seven lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ubin covers up after that shot from Seven.

Seven is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Ubin. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.

Seven is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Seven gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Seven gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Seven apologises and we restart here on the feet.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Seven has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ubin uses from the top position.
Seven on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Seven tries to get out of the position.

Seven thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Seven bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ubin's guard.
Seven is working Ubin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Ubin is looking to stand up but Seven isn't so interested in that idea.

Seven drops back looking for a leg! Ubin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ubin manages to kick Seven off! Seven jumps back into Ubin's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Seven shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ubin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ubin is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Seven is controlling him well.

Ubin pushes Seven away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Seven gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Ubin is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Lucky Seven is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lucky Seven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Seven, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
