PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between AJ Heid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luna Soleil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oooh a lovely combination from Soleil sends Heid down but not out. Soleil dives into side control looking to finish.

Heid is rocked!

It looks like AJ Heid has been cut.
Heid is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Soleil is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Oh Heid is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Heid is working to get back to half guard.
Heid seems to have got his legs back now.
Soleil wants to stand but Soleil is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Heid is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Heid manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Soleil wants to stand up but Heid has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Soleil is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Heid wants to get back to full guard.
Soleil tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Heid.

Heid tries to roll over but Soleil keeps him under control.
Soleil tries to stand but can't do so whilst Heid controls his leg.
Soleil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Heid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Heid wants to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Heid shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Heid showed some decent athleticism there.
Heid wants to pass to mount but Soleil is defending the position.

Heid is working for a kimura but Soleil is defending it quite comfortably.
Heid stops Soleil from getting back to his feet.
Soleil looks gassed!

Heid passes to side control.
Heid tries to advance to mount but Soleil denies him.

Heid thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Heid tries to move into full mount but can't pass Soleil's legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Heid tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Heid has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Soleil is trying to buck Heid off.

Heid thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Soleil sneaks out the side door and pushes Heid away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Heid fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Nice jab there from Soleil.

Soleil moves into the clinch successfully.
Soleil is pressed up against the cage. Heid has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Soleil down to the mat. Soleil avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Soleil throws a series of punches but Heid moves out of range.

Heid fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Soleil sprawls well initially but Heid persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Soleil wants to get back to his feet.
Heid has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Heid jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Soleil manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Heid is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Soleil looks calm but he's in trouble here. Heid gets his head over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Soleil is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Heid lets go of the hold and Soleil can pop his arm back in it's socket.
