PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Snap Pop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tidal Wave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wave comes into a darkened arena with his song building. One Of These Days kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Pop is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Snap Pop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tidal Wave!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pop gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wave to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pop is breathing heavily.
Wave trying to control but Pop is working from the bottom.
Wave with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pop has momentary wrist control but Wave slips an elbow through the middle.
Wave has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wave thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Wave trying to control the position from guard on top but Pop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wave postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Wave passes into half guard.
Wave is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Pop is squirming around, avoiding Wave's attempts to control the action.
Wave landing punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wave has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pop's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wave punishing his opponent with strikes.
Wave looking to control but Pop is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Wave is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Wave trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pop is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Wave has taken his back.
Wave trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Wave scores with punches and elbows.

Wave is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pop knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pop for a finish.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
